Systems Engineer

Fuse is looking for a Systems Engineer capable of developing and delivering fully capable large-scale network infrastructure systems comprising both hardware and software applications. You will be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrate superb technical competency, delivering mission critical communications systems and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security. Qualified systems engineers will have a background in networking, computer systems engineering, or systems engineering and analysis, with a functional knowledge of the hardware used in those systems. We’re looking for an experienced systems engineer that can balance discipline and attention to detail with outside-the-box thinking and an innovative problem-solving attitude. Candidates should have proven hands-on experience developing, testing, and installing complex airborne systems. We are looking for nimble self-starters who will thrive in our flexible, dynamic environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide input for system specifications
  • Provide input for physical system design, installation, and integration
  • Ensure system is developed to meet customer specified requirements
  • Install and verify system level components
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools
  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
  • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
  • Collaborate with engineers to design and develop technical solutions
  • Install and configure new hardware, software, and network components
  • Diagnose, analyze, and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues and situations with critical thinking skills

Core Competencies:

Required:

  • BS/MS degree in Engineering
  • Proven working experience designing, developing, and integrating complex systems (5+ years)
  • Experience with avionics system design and aeronautical systems
  • Experience building and integrating aircraft hardware and software solutions
  • Experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting UNIX/Linux-based environments
  • Experience with virtualization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box)
  • Experience with system level testing and verification
  • Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
  • Experience with information security applications and certifications
  • Experience reading and creating system drawings (including but not limited to: block diagrams, wire harness diagrams, network maps, electrical schematics, mechanical drawings)
  • US Citizenship
  • Must be able to work locally in San Diego
  • Ability to obtain a US Secret clearance

Desired:

  • MS in System Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with NAVAIR SETR process
  • Experience with RMF process and framework
  • Active US Secret clearance
