Fuse Reports Record-High Revenue for 2022

In 2022, Fuse’s revenue and workforce grew by an unprecedented 43%, fueled by strategic client contracts, successful live-flight exercises and industry collaboration supporting production ramp-up. Growth reflects increasing demand for our warfighter-focused products as we transition into production and expand deliveries of advanced avionic and integrated networking pods to defense customers.

“2022 was a tremendous year of growth as we transitioned into fleet deployments for our software, hardware and integrated systems,” said Sumner Lee, CEO of Fuse. “Our team is working closely with warfighters as we deliver joint networking capability that challenges critical mission threats today.”

Strategic Contract Awards

In the first quarter of 2022, Fuse earned a spot on the U.S. Air Force $950M Advanced Battle Management System IDIQ that enables Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2). By the end of Q2, the company won more than $17M in federal defense contracts for tactical edge networking on sea and air platforms.

Live-Flight Demos and Product Installations

Successful live-flight demonstrations included the Office of Naval Research’s Technical Concept Experiment and a joint Marine Corps/Navy exercise. Additionally, we delivered our first permanent Tactical Technologies Toolset installment at a U.S. Navy shore facility, supporting Naval Surface Warfare Center personnel monitoring the Aegis SPY radar at the Pacific Missile Range Facility. Fuse also completed T3 shipboard installations for the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command.

Collaborations with Industry Giants

A formal DoD Mentor-Protégé agreement with Raytheon Missiles & Defense is helping Fuse mature our production line for networking products and airborne integrated systems. Additionally, after our CORE® virtualized networking solution was qualified to run Amazon Web Services IoT Greengrass, we joined the AWS Partner Network as a hardware provider.

Fuse Releases JADC2 White Paper Examining Joint-Force Battlespace Communications

Good news! We’re delighted to announce the release of our white paper, JADC2: Tactical Edge Networking to Win in Great Power Competition, which outlines communications challenges facing the U.S. military at the tactical edge. It also highlights promising initiatives and innovative technologies designed to ensure that joint-force warfighters will be able to securely communicate with each other and with command centers, without having to consider interoperability limitations.

“U.S. and allied defense forces are facing an increasingly dynamic landscape across the globe. The race is on to ensure reliable, secure warfighter communications despite our adversaries’ interference,” said Sumner Lee, CEO of Fuse Integration. “We’re eager to share this white paper, which starts and ends by placing the warfighter at the center of communication advancements – and the initiatives underway to support them in delaying, degrading or denying adversary aggression in the battlespace.”

In a great power competition, the United States, China and Russia are competing to shape security norms, trades and technologies around the world. The Fuse white paper emphasizes that battles will not be won with “the most advanced technology or the biggest bombs.” Instead, “the key to tactical edge missions and victories in the modern era is information dominance that enables decisive action.”

In addition to designing products that deliver tactical edge communications, Fuse is actively demonstrating and delivering its tactical edge networking capability to defense clients. In October, Fuse successfully conducted another live-flight demonstration at the Office of Naval Research’s Technical Concept Experiment, which replicated expeditionary operations in a contested littoral environment. Fuse next moves on to no less than three separate flight events within the first half of next year.

Fuse Earns 2023 Military Friendly® Employer Designation, Bronze Distinction

Fuse is proud to announce that we have earned the 2023 Military Friendly® Employer designation, with a “Bronze” rank. Military Friendly Employer companies are committed to creating sustainable economic benefits to the military community, including providing meaningful career paths, community outreach, brand enthusiasm, and enduring partnerships with and for military veterans. Recognizing exceptional military/veteran programs, the Bronze distinction is bestowed on employers who scored within 30% of the 10th best Employer in their category; in this case, the under $500 million category.

“Fuse was founded by military veterans with the noble cause of bringing the benefits of commercial human-centered design processes to military systems engineering,” said Fuse CEO and former naval aviator, Sumner Lee. “Our veteran employees have always been an important part of our culture. We are thrilled to be recognized for our commitment to the military community and our success in building a military-friendly team and company.”

More than 40% of the Fuse workforce have served in the military and 16% of our employees are disabled veterans. Military experience and skillsets are tremendous assets here, as we design and build mission-critical systems that support the warfighter.

“Companies earning the Military Friendly Employers® designation elevate the standard for military programs globally; they have invested in substantive programs that promote positive outcomes for service members, military spouses and veterans within their organizations,” said Kayla Lopez, Director of Military Partnerships, Military Friendly®. “For these employers, hiring military is more than just the right thing to do; it’s a standard that makes good business sense.”

More than 1,000 companies participated in the 2023 Military Friendly® survey. Methodology, criteria and weightings were determined by VIQTORY, with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the military recruitment community. Final ratings were based on survey responses, public data sources and an assessment of the organization’s ability to meet thresholds for Applicant, New Hire Retention, Employee Turnover, and Promotion & Advancement of veterans and military employees.

Fuse will be showcased as a 2023 Military Friendly® Employer in the December issue of G.I. Jobs®magazine and on MilitaryFriendly.com.

About Military Friendly® Military Friendly® is the standard that measures an organization’s commitment, effort, and success in creating sustainable and meaningful benefits for the military community. Fuse Conducts Successful Live-Flight Demo of Tactical Edge Networking Capability for the Office of Naval Research

Fuse conducted another successful live-flight demonstration of its Tactical Edge Networking capability! The October Technical Concept Experiment (TCE) was hosted by the Office of Naval Research. In the joint multi-domain exercise, which replicated expeditionary operations in a contested littoral environment, Fuse enabled the interconnecting of distributed nodes and provided persistent sea-to-shore networked communications via text, voice and live video feeds.

“Today’s warfighters are routinely operating in multi-domain joint operational environments that rely on dependable and secure connections and communications,” said Rebecca Unetic, Director of Strategy at Fuse. “Fuse capabilities are built for operational relevance and this Navy-Marine Corps exercise further demonstrates the readiness and applicability of our products and technologies on board ships and aircraft today.”

Throughout the multi-day exercise, held along Camp Pendleton’s Red Beach training area in California, Fuse engineers and technical personnel effectively integrated user data from various technologies into the overall event network architecture. The team provided data linkages over disparate mesh and CDL networks in a highly terrain-challenged environment; securely connected beyond-line-of-sight command posts and tactical units; extended the range of communications to enable joint amphibious operations and naval mine countermeasures; and facilitated text and live video across the multi-domain, multi-link network with cyber-secure IP and TDL gateways.

As with previous Navy-Marine Corps exercises, the Fuse TEN architecture demonstrated persistent, secure and resilient networked communications from sea to shore in a constructive command and control/denied and degraded environment. The TEN architecture is designed to accelerate the sensor-decider-shooter cycle and enhance data-informed decision-making critical in the modern battlespace, enabling the U.S. Defense Department’s JADC2 initiative. It also facilitates rapid prototyping with joint networks and “speed to fleet” deployment across multi-domain platforms.
